CFS™ Bags for Families
We regularly get feedback from Early Years professionals about how they would really like to extend their understanding about the development of speaking and listening with families but are not sure what route to take.
How many of these statistics would your practitioners and local families benefit from?
(Based on feedback from 50 CFS™ Bags for Families projects in Liverpool)
17% increase in effective two-way communication with families
6% increase in talking with the family on a regular basis and a 42% increase in terms of these conversations focusing on the child’s development
26% increase in parents and carers verbally contributing to observation and assessment systems
14% increase in parent/carer initiated conversations about their child’s speaking and listening skills
30% increase in parent’s/carers documenting evidence of their child’s preferred learning context
Engaging families in supporting children’s speaking and listening is essential; their knowledge of their children’s interests and preferences is useful in identifying what will capture their imagination and encourage them to concentrate and communicate freely and confidently.
We know that if children are encouraged and helped to use their innate creativity and imagination they can use just a few carefully selected open-ended resources to create a whole world of possibilities. Sharing this opportunity with families can bring inter generational benefits.
CFS™ Bags for Families offers children and their families a range of portable bags of resources to borrow, for them to use together in their home context to create a variety of Communication Friendly Spaces™. The contents reflect the principles of CFS™. An ideas pack which offers an impact measure, suggested guidance and ideas to get CFS™ Bags for Families programme started is also included.
